TSA Guidance & Tips

TSA Guidance & Travel Tips

East Texas Regional Airport (GGG) serves thousands of travelers each year, and smart preparation can help ensure a smooth airport experience from check-in to departure. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) provides important security guidelines, travel checklists, and screening tips to help you move efficiently through TSA checkpoints.

TSA Checklist

Before you pack and head to the airport, review the TSA Travel Checklist to learn what is allowed in carry-on and checked baggage. The checklist outlines size and liquid limits (including the 3-1-1 rule for liquids), concealed item policies, and prohibited items to help you avoid delays at security.

Security Screening Tips

TSA’s screening process is designed to protect passengers and aircraft. Know what to expect at the checkpoint, including how carry-on bags are inspected and the purpose of TSA’s Secure Flight pre-screening system, which matches traveler information against federal watch lists to identify risk factors.

TSA PreCheck & Expedited Screening

If eligible, TSA PreCheck offers expedited screening and a more relaxed experience — you can often keep on shoes, belts, light jackets and leave laptops and liquids in your carry-on when entering PreCheck lanes. TSA PreCheck eligibility is indicated on your boarding pass with a “TSA PreCheck” logo.

Military Benefits: Members of the U.S. Armed Forces and DoD federal civilians may be eligible for free TSA PreCheck by adding their DoD ID number to the “Known Traveler Number” (KTN) field when booking flights.

Special Travel Assistance

TSA offers guidance for families and travelers with medical conditions or disabilities. TSA Cares provides assistance before and during security screening for passengers who may require extra help.
